Pots & Pithoi is well known for its finest quality terracotta pots, planters and water features. Hand thrown by skilled artisans at their pottery in Crete, the pots are created using a time-honoured method that is thousands of years old. Each pot bears the unique patina of a one-of-a-kind product, appreciated by private customers and discerning garden designers.
Creative Direction
Working in partnership with Jack Watkins through our Studio Renaissance collaboration, for this substantial project we created a brand direction, language, visual identity, refined product offering and integrated online store that powered real change within the business model, and reflects the true prestige of the brand.
We defined a creative direction for the brand that is confident, artisanal and elemental, and stripped away any necessary clutter.
strapline
Earth refined.
The new strapline describes the artistry of taking a raw material from the ground, and transforming it through manual skill into something of value. The word earth speaks to the elemental side of the brand essence, while refined draws from the prestige side of brand.
brand statement

The brand statement is intentionally simple and descriptive, allowing the true value of the product to shine through.
artisanal positioning
Look closely at a Pots & Pithoi pot, and you'll fall in love with its individuality. Subtle variations in colour, texture and detail make your pot unique — a work of art that is unrivalled in its quality and beauty.
As part of this process we introduced a new brand architecture and product taxonomy for over 300 products, bringing consistency to product naming and categorising, and a sense of calm and order to the brand.
Prestigious tone
Pots & Pithoi pots appear in outstanding places, from informal cottage gardens to the magnificent grounds of Highgrove House.
The tone of voice and copy has a reassuring quality that is inspired by the elements of nature, and remains true to a timeless craft.
Elemental language
We have a true love for the heritage and craft of handmade Cretan pottery. Today, our artisans blend clay from the ground and using ancient techniques, shape and fire it into classical and contemporary pots and pithoi. Each one develops its own natural patina and, as you’ll see, is uniquely beautiful.
