WILD THYME & HONEY

A taste of the good life.

Background

There is a compelling sense of place and heritage at Wild Thyme & Honey. Located in a 16th century Cotswold coaching inn, this rural boutique hotel is infused with historic charm, whilst delivering the modern style and luxury that discerning guests demand.

THE BRIEF

Following a redesign of their visual identity, I was approached to write brand copy for a new website. With their natural eye for style and design, the owners had already translated their vision into a sensibility through beautiful interior design, food, rooms, service and events. They now needed to capture this essence in words, to enable them to talk about what makes Wild Thyme & Honey so special.

Tone of voice

The first step for me was to develop a tone of voice that felt as welcoming, sensory, and considered as the place itself. It needed to strike the perfect balance: premium but not stuffy, conversational but still refined, and evocative of the delicious scents, sights, sounds and tastes of this quintessential Cotswold destination.

Our supremely stylish rooms and suites all have king sized beds, seriously good showers, Nespresso machines and charming views. But much of what makes your stay with us special is unseen. It’s about anticipating your every need, from a book rest on your bathtub to our handy pantries stocked with goodies, available around the clock.

Hero line

There was no strapline for the brand in use, only a functional description of a beautiful pub and country inn in the heart of the Cotswolds. The new hero line moves away from generic adjectives to capture the unique sensory, seasonal soul of this historic location.

A taste of the good life.

Defining the positioning

Wild Thyme & Honey is the perfect name for the hotel. This positioning statement explains why, and captures the elusive spirit of the place. Articulating the magic in this way allows a brand to own a clear space in a competitive market.

Step through the doors at Wild Thyme & Honey and you’ll feel the spirit of the place welcome you like a warm hug. We have drawn inspiration from the natural beauty of the Cotswold countryside on our doorstep to create a place where life is sweet as the honey in our hives, and uplifting as the aromatic thyme that grows on our stone walls.

Talking directly to our audience

Wild Thyme & Honey guests know what they do and don’t like, so we spoke directly to them with this copy that captures the quiet, understated luxury of the place.

If your idea of luxury is comfy and naturally beautiful, with simple pleasures impeccably delivered, we think you’ll feel at home here.

Seasonal language

I provided four seasonal options for the homepage call to action, which can easily be updated to align with the current food, atmosphere, and guest experience.

Blow away the cobwebs with the fresh, seasonal flavours of our new spring menu.

Warmer days are perfect for alfresco cocktails and dining with good friends on the terrace.

Make the most of the glorious season with a long walk followed by well-earned fireside drinks.

Enjoy a hearty lunch, then cozy up with a good book. Blankets provided, conversation optional.

Thank you Clare, you’ve done a brilliant job, particularly with the restaurant and food copy. Such wonderful work!
